You Want to be a Writer...

So, you want to be a writer...
and (let's be honest) you'd like to be the author of this...

BUT BEFORE THAT CAN HAPPEN, YOU NEED TO FACE THE SCARIEST THING IN THE WORLD....

It's not this...
Or this...
It's not even this...

It's this...

But after a great deal of this...
And a touch of this...

You will end up with this...
Which will become this...
Or even this...

You must trust, someday, you will end up with this...

Or even this...

And who knows? Maybe you are the next...
Why not?

  1. Elspeth - It is so important to set one's sights on a goal. The steps to get to that goal can be so frustrating that if you don't keep your "eyes on the prize," it's easy to give up.

But may I please add a word about the vital necessity along the way of appropriate doses of coffee, dark chocolate and wine? Oh, and sheep.

  2. Love the picture of the little boy and the book. One of the main reasons I became a writer was to hopefully some day write and publish a book that would thrill some young reader the way books thrilled me. That is what it is all about.

  3. Margot; Of course those all are vital necessities. I actually have a stuffed sheep on my writing desk. He stares.

Maryann; It must be wonderful to be able to write for younger readers. I do remember that feeling of discovering new adventures every time I opened a book.

  4. I found that I have to write for ME. If I don't like it, it's a burdensome chore. Not that it isn't hard work, but I write the stories I want to read, with the characters I love to spend time with.

  5. Terry; I admit I have written some games based simply on my best guess on what mystery game buyers would want to play, but I certainly know what you're talking about.

  6. :o] Don't you wish it could happen as fast as a blog post makes it sound.
