Of course...
If it really is this...
You're going to have to build a this...
Or get your hands on a really big this...
Very good advice here, Elspeth! I usually run into a hole at least once a manuscript. Keeping calm and carrying on is the best plan. :) And you're so right--half the time it's not as bad as it seems.
ReplyDeleteIf I don't have a hole right now can I have a cupcake any way? Please.
ReplyDeleteLol, I wrote around a big ol' hole in my last book for months. Maybe if I had had a cupcake I could have filled it in faster.
ReplyDeleteI built a bridge or two and kept a shovel handy on my last draft. I think/hope I fixed all the darn things. Now I'm going for a cupcake :)
ReplyDeleteElizabeth; Finding a hole is never fun, but it's not usually as big a disaster as we first think, is it?
ReplyDeleteMary; Of course; have a cupcake to celebrate your lack of plot holes.
Maryann; Well done on filling in your big ol' hole; have several cupcakes as a reward.
Carol; I'm sure that you have. Cupcake away!
Please send more cupcake! I just found a hole - in my stomach.
ReplyDeleteAny writer who finds a hole completely unaided and on their on has got to be on top of things! Most of us need someone to point it out. So I will add to this and say if you find a hole, pat yourself on the back for some dang good self-editing!
ReplyDeleteDorte; LOL!
ReplyDeleteKaren; I've never had that much of a problem spotting plot holes or other deficiencies - it's the fixing that's more problematic!
Filling in holes with cupcakes. What a great idea! I just found a (I hope) reasonably sized pothole to fill in my current WIP. Sometimes the tiniest details are overlooked, and they grow, grow, grow.

Terry; You're absolutely right, sometimes missing a teeny tiny thing can morph into a giant hole.
