Here's a fascinating look at how Walt Disney made their cartoons, long before CGI was even a glint in somebody's eye. Remember, in the '30s this was cutting-edge technology.
One of my parents' friends was an artist for Disney, and he gave them 2 discarded cells, which hung in my bedroom until I was too old for Pluto and Donald Duck. Had my parents only known how much they'd be worth someday ... Hindsight is everything.
Amazing! And so cutting edge back then. I think Snow White was the first movie-length cartoon, wasn' it? Watching them do all this work...it must have taken forever. I love seeing how they made the sound effects, too.
Terry; *sigh* Hindsight really is everything, isn't it?
Elizabeth; I believe Snow White was the first feature-length animated movie. I'm floored at how much time it took, and awed by their artistic skills. I'm pleased if I can draw a stick figure.
Elspeth - Thanks so much for sharing this! I truly salute those with that much creativity, and of course, I am green with envy at their artistic ability. Which is why I write. I do not draw. I mean really.

ReplyDeleteMargot; I wish I could draw! I SO CAN'T. Let's just eat chocolate and drink wine instead.
