Just Keep Swimming (I mean Writing...)

Starting a new project is like plunging into this...

At first, you may feel the water is cold enough for this...

But you start doing this....

With the occasional moments of this...

But always returning to this...

Watch out for this...

But remember any journey is better with this...

And trust that even though you think you're going as slow as this...

If you've done this....

At some point....

You will be doing this.

It was a conversation with the marvy Margot Kinberg which inspired this post. Thanks, Margot! Do you visit her blog, "Confessions of a Mystery Novelist"? You MUST! It's a wonder.

  1. Elspeth - *Deep blush* Thank you so much for the kind words :-). You've made my week :-). They mean a lot coming from you. And I so love your analogy. Writing really is like a swimming trip in so many ways. And we all swim best with different strokes, so it works no matter what kind of writer one is. The only problem is that sheep can't swim ;-).

  2. Hi Elspeth,
Great blog and awesome photography. All are great but I like the duck picture most. Agree with you that we must keep swimming as swimming is great to lose and maintain weight. Swimming makes heart and lungs strong and great to deal with joint and muscles issues.
