On the one hand...
Walking around with a permanent smile tends to make others eye you warily.
Remember those other projects that were put on the sidelines while you worked on the deadline project? They're baaaaack.
People tend to judge if they see you opening the liquor cabinet before dinner. Long before dinner.
Hard as it is to believe, meeting your deadline does not become the top trending topic on Twitter. Humph.
On the other hand...
You have a legitimate reason to try to pat yourself on the back.
Sporting a permanent smile is more becoming than the furrowed brow you've been sporting for the last few days.
Ah, my beloved WIP! How are you? I've missed you.
Let them judge. Writers are supposed to drink - you're just doing your bit.
It may not be the top trending topic on Twitter, but it is for you. Revel in it.
And the best reason of all...

Elspeth - Congratulations on meeting your deadline! That ought to be a seriously trending Twitter topic and if it isn't, it's hardly your fault. We writers understand, anyway... Erm, especially if you share your liquid refreshment ;-).
ReplyDeleteCongrats. I've got mixed feelings about not having hard deadlines for much of my writing. On the one hand, I can work at my own pace, but on the other hand, it means I still haven't signed that golden deal.
