Elspeth - It is so important to set one's sights on a goal. The steps to get to that goal can be so frustrating that if you don't keep your "eyes on the prize," it's easy to give up.

Love the picture of the little boy and the book. One of the main reasons I became a writer was to hopefully some day write and publish a book that would thrill some young reader the way books thrilled me. That is what it is all about.
ReplyDeleteMargot; Of course those all are vital necessities. I actually have a stuffed sheep on my writing desk. He stares.
ReplyDeleteMaryann; It must be wonderful to be able to write for younger readers. I do remember that feeling of discovering new adventures every time I opened a book.
I found that I have to write for ME. If I don't like it, it's a burdensome chore. Not that it isn't hard work, but I write the stories I want to read, with the characters I love to spend time with.
