Here's a quick look at some hairstyles from the 1930s. I imagine each of them would have taken some time to complete. I consider it a triumph if I'm able to brush my hair...
Elspeth - Hard to believe that women actually went to that much trouble for their hair. I actually really like these "peeks" you offer us at life during the 30's. It helps me envisage other books I read. And it's whetting my appetite for yours.
You know how I love anything to do with hair (well, almost anything...) Let me tell you, those finger waves and pin curls are not easy to do -- take it from someone who almost went into the cosmetology field twenty years ago!
Elspeth: I'm enjoying your Thirties Thursdays! So much fun. I'm also a fan of the 30s. In fact, my FB profile pic is Claudette Colbert with those fabulous finger waves in her hair.

ReplyDeleteMargot; I'm so glad you enjoy these peeks into the past! And as to the last thing you wrote - you've discovered my plan!

ReplyDeleteElisa; Which is why you have a personal maid! Seriously, the time and skill involved boggles my mind.
ReplyDeleteIt's a very good thing my hair doesn't live in the 30s.

ReplyDeleteCarol; I agree.
ReplyDeleteLuana; Wow! Thanks for letting me know. It's always great to meet another Thirties fan.
