Holiday Stretch

Here's a fun stretch for your imagination as the holiday season turns up its engine. How would your main characters spend the holidays?

Where would they be? Who else would be there? Would it be a large occasion or small?

My detective would be in the south of France. He would have his Christmas dinner at one of the town's fine cafes. His present of choice? New water colour paints.

With this tiny post I'm signing off for the rest of the week. I've cookies to bake and presents to wrap and a giant turkey to wrestle.

My warmest wishes to all of you and my best hopes for a wonderful holiday; what ever holiday you celebrate. See you on Monday, December 27th.

  1. Elspeth - I hope you thoroughly enjoy your well-earned rest. My very best to you and your family : ).

You asked an interesting question... hmmm... I think my sleuth would spend the holidays with his wife, whom he loves very much, quietly at home. Neither is much for a lot of fanfare.

  2. My sleuth would take her two teen boys to Vermont to ski or to Havana to go to music clubs. She would like to ignore Christmas because she and her husband split up about a year or so ago (in the time frame of the second mystery) Plus her mother is a social whirlwind and she doesn't like it!
Hope you are having a lovely time...

  3. That was easy. Arnold Kickinbottom, the main character of my Christmas blog-story is going to spend this Christmas in the basement.

My serious protagonist will certainly spend Christmas with her widowed mother. She will fuss so much that her mother suggests she take a walk now and then.

  4. Taylor would spend the holiday aboard her cutter with the skeleton crew remaining aboard. Will, at least part of the day with his daughter. Jake, serving food to the homeless followed by a night at a hotel bar.

    Merry Christmas.

  5. My main characters are 12...so they'd spend it at home with their parents... But they're all in the same neighborhood, so maybe they'd get together and do a ghost hunt once they'd opened their presents! I haven't made it past Halloween in the series yet, so we'll see what happens when December gets here...

  6. My 2 mcs would spend it together - in a very small way. They'd probably hope for parts for their tinkerings :)

Enjoy a wonderful break. I'm in the midst of cookie baking myself!

  8. I would like to spend my Christmas with your detective in the South of France. We could have couscous at Chez Grandmere in Tourrettes-sur-Loup. http://www.tourrettessurloup.com/index.php

  11. That's a very good question as I've created two fantasy worlds.. I could have some fun with this one! Merry Christmas to you and yours Elspeth. Don't let that turkey get the best of you :)

  12. My character (does not live in the real world so doesn't have Christmas) would spend any holiday either locked in the library or her study hoping that she wouldn't be disturbed. Though she would sneak into the kitchen and try to grab a plate of treats to eat. She has a major sweet tooth.
