I'd never heard of it - although there is a reference in a Josephine Tey mystery about a student talking about 'fields of waving spaghetti' which I've always remembered.
I'd never seen it either. Out here we had snow fall April Fool's morning! Very odd weather. It was just a dusting of snow - barely covered the tips of the grass, but still, it made me do a considerable double take.
I remember this from the 60's, on the program, This Was the Week That Was. Great hoax. Where did you find it?
