Wherein I endeavour to share writerly advice lightened with humour, pictures and a dollop of 1930s-1940s history.
Elspeth - I love these! Basket #4 looks a lot like one we had when I was a child. My parents were young during the '30's, so that wouldn't surprise me. Oh, and I'll bring some fresh fruit to the picnic if other folks will bring other things ;-).
Margot; Aren't they great? I actually own one that looks similar to #4 - unfortunately it's not from the '30s. I'm looking forward to that fresh California fruit!
Living in Florida, we had to use insulated coolers, but the idea of an old-fashioned picnic basket always made me want one.TerryTerry's PlaceRomance with a Twist--of Mystery
Terry; I use an insulated cooler for the food and a wicker basket much like these for the dishes, etc.
