And in the End...*

Sooner or later we all get to write our version of this...

or (if you're like me) it's probably more like this...

Sorry. That was shameless self-promotion of my highest-selling game.
But, here's a link to the game if you're interested.
Oops...Sorry again.

BACK TO OUR POST....

Sooner or later we all get to write our version of this...

Some stories end like this....
or like this...

maybe there might be a this...

with plenty of this...

Your main character might be doing this...

But you must know (hidden in the backseat) is a small this...

In my case, however...

No matter how I end any of my projects...

I know...

in my heart...

Somewhere...

a sheep is doing this.

*Taking a page from the marvy Margot Kinberg, this blog title is from the Beatles' song The End.

  1. Elspeth - Awww... thanks :-). And I love your choice of title, too! And yes, I often think about the sheep that are sitting around somewhere having a good time at our expense... ;-). You do make a good point about endings. My "deal breaker" about story endings is that they have to be a good match for the novel. I don't like endings that sew up things abruptly and too neatly, either....

  2. As long as the dragon doesn't eat the sheep - or the other way around - all is well :)

  3. Margot; I'm with you - that type of ending drives me nuts. I usually suspect the author had a deadline breathing down their neck and just wrapped everything up as quickly as possible.

Carol; You make a valid point. A worrying point, but valid.

  4. Endings are worse than beginnings for me. My greatest joy is when my editor says, "Good ending. I want to read more." Because, let's face it. Our first page sells the book. Our last page sells the next book. No pressure.

  5. I don´t know why we shouldn´t promote ourselves - who else will?

I am in the middle of an online writing course right now, and this week I gave my fellow students a short scene from my Danish mystery (and told them so). They have all taken it very well (and I have even sold some) ;)
